Today you need to look at your periodic chart to answer this one!

How many electrons does Chlorine need to fill its outer shell?

Remember it wants 8 you need to tell me how many it is missing.

If you figure out that one then look at Carbon what does it need?

9 comments:

  1. Chlorine has three electron shells. On it's third and outermost shell it has 7. On the third electron shell, an atom can have 18 electrons. So Chlorine needs 11 more electrons.

Carbon has two electron shells. The second electron shell of an atom can have 8 electrons. Carbon has 4 out of 8 electrons on that shell, so it's missing 4 electrons.
