a thin airplane and throwing with the wind helped the plane go further,but my groups best plane only went 14 ft so i cant answer this question very well!

When the wind blew is when i found that the plane would go a longer distance.

Our airplanes, I admit, weren't quite that great, but what seemed to Help it most was wind direction and speed, if we threw it right. The wind would go under the plane and lift it up just enough to make it go further and faster.

Obviously my answer is gonna have to be towards the wind, I hate to follow suit, but the wind was a great factor in this experiment.
